Betsy is gearing up for a release for her debut solo album. A year in the making Betsy has poured a lot of energy into this solo project. Bouncing back from some difficult and eye opening experiences, this album tells more of a personal story than any of her previous three band releases. The musicians on the album are Chris Enghouser (Stand up Bass), David Blackmon (fiddle), Matt Stoessell (dobro), Holly Belle (background vox), Scott Nicholson (Piano), Tom Baker (Banjo) Adam Poulin (Fiddle), Ivey Hughes (drums). The work has been recorded and engineered at Full Moon Studios by Jay Rodgers. Betsy just returned from a successful tour of Colorado and will announce the National Release in October.
Betsy and the Band are also back in the studio to record another band album. The first song recorded, "All the Kings" was chosen to be on this years Athfest CD (2011). Go to www.athensmusic.net to get a copy after June 24th.
In 2009 "Lowdown", was on the Annually distributed, "Athfest CD"which brought the band national acclaim. "Lowdown" was also released on the sampler CD in the October Relix issue in 2009.
"Still Waiting"came out March 23rd 2010. It features the song "Lowdown" but will sound different than the original version as a three piece horn section was just added including Athens greats Randall Bramblett, Kevin Hyde, and JR Beckwith. "Lowdown" is reminiscent of 50's style do-wop, while the rest of the album inter twines everything from jazz, rock, blues, and gospel with a hint of country twang always breathing its way into the natural folky style of Franck's song writing.
Currently the album is for sale in Hard Copy @ athensmusic.net, and @ live shows, it is also available on i-tunes. Download it today!!
Read below for some excerpts of some new album reviews:
As if seeing Bobby Keys play the music of the Rolling Stones with one of Athens’ chillest rock bands was not enough, many local musicians added to the performance. Todd Nance of Widespread Panic laid down the percussion. Jason Alan Fuller, whose band, Snap!, opened earlier this year for Chuck Leavell, supplied his trademark crisp, clean keys. Athens darling, Betsy Franck, added vocals for nearly the entire show, proving she’s got the soulful chops to hang with the big boys. In addition, Colonel Bruce Hampton (Ret.) and Donna Hopkins made the trip from Atlanta and joined in for a couple of tunes.

Jeff Clark from Stomp and Stammer says: (3/01/2010)
Betsy Franck and the Bareknuckle Band do a playful, soulful style of Southern roots music, steeped in the ingrained sounds of Memphis, Muscle Shoals, Macon, Nashville, New Orleans and other historically musically-rich regional locales. Impressively, Franck and crew manage to blend it all together in seamless fashion on their new CD, Still Waiting. She has a terrific voice, bleeding humid weariness and sultry determination at once, and the tunes match it note for organic note. Definitely a group to watch.
Athens own Flagpole Magazine:
Locals Betsy Franck and the Bareknuckle Band straddle the line between barroom blues and alt-country on Still Waiting, the group’s sophomore release. The centerpiece of the group is frontwoman Franck’s soulful Southern vocals, which are on par with those of veterans like two-fisted country femme Shelby Lynne and former Little Feat vocalist Shaun Murphy.
