History
Betsy Franck and the BareKnuckle Band are based in Athens, Ga. and have played together regionally for (8) years, recorded a handful of albums, and impressed the critics.
Their sound mixes dirty Blues guitar, busy solid bass lines, gospel/country vocals, and rock & roll drummin'.
Betsy and BKB have played a multitude of venues and festivals including the Georgia Theatre, and the 40 Watt in Athens, GA., the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Bragg Jam in Macon, Ga., Americana Fest in Newnan, Ga., and this year after three successful Colorado tours, played Bear Creek Music Festival in Live Oak Fla.
In January 2003, Betsy and the BKB went into John Keane's Studio (R.E.M., Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic) and recorded an electrified seven song album, "Held Up By Progress", which was met with great reviews from local music media.
Their next effort, "Still Waiting" recorded with Engineer, A.J. Adams of Troubadour Den Recording was released in March (2010). The band has toured Nationally since the release of this album, and as they continue to gain momentum, Betsy will release a solo album in the coming months, and the band will be recording a new album getting ready for a Spring 2012 release.
The new solo album entitled "This Far" is an intimately smooth journey through Franck's past. "With her use of piercing and poignant phrasing the songstress tragically destroys you then effortlessly you are saved by the silky raspy comfort of Francks soothing vocal timbre" (Album features David Blackmon, Adam Poulin, Chris Enghouser, Ivey Hughes, Jay Rodgers, Tom Baker, Holly Belle, Scott Nicholson, and Matt Stoessel)
Betsy and The BareKnuckle Band are proud Recipients of the Flagpole Music Award for Best Country/Southern Rock Band of Athens, Ga. 2009, and finalists in the Americana Category 2010
Betsy has shared the stage or recorded with multiple well known artists including Loretta Lynn, Shooter Jennings, John Keane, David Blackmon, Leon Russelll, Billie Joe Shaver, Jerry Joseph, Randall Bramblett, Bobby Keyes, and John Popper, just to name a few. Whether you catch the full BareKnuckle Band, or one of Betsy's lyrically enchanting solo sets, you will be blown away as this artist embodies impassioned performance at its best.
